Life Cycle Assessment

Laborplast has renewed its Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) study, already conducted in 2020, for 2022 as well, with the aim of assessing the environmental impact of its products - PVC cores and compounds - on the ecosystem.

What emerges is how recycled PVC products have a lower environmental impact than virgin PVC ones: the use of recycled PVC instead of virgin PVC in the production of compounds and cores ensures a decrease in the amount of CO2 emitted of 83 percent and 79 percent, respectively.

The analysis is conducted using the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology, in accordance with the requirements of the international standards UNI EN ISO 14040:2021 "Environmental Management - Life Cycle Assessment - Principles and Framework" and UNI EN ISO 14044:2021 "Environmental Management - Life Cycle Assessment - Requirements and Guidelines."

There are four main phases of the study conducted by CESAP S.r.l. CONSORTIUM.

At a preliminary stage were defined the modalities, such as objective and scope; the inflows and outflows were then quantified for all processes in the life cycle assessment; then, through scientific models the impact was assessed. Finally, the interpretation of the results made it possible to derive conclusions and recommendations useful for Laborplast to direct choices in the area of production.
